Dr. Stacey Preis
Dr. Preis holds a bachelor’s degree in English, a master’s degree in education and a doctorate in educational policy studies, all from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Dr. Preis brings 18 years in educational leadership, student achievement initiatives, and statewide education policy — consistently supporting students, empowering educators, and strengthening partnerships with families, employers, and communities.
She previously served at DESE as the Deputy Commissioner for the Division of Learning Services from 2015-2019. Prior to that she served as assistant commissioner for the Department’s Office of Early and Extended Learning since 2014. Dr. Preis also spent six years with the Missouri General Assembly as Executive Director of the Joint Committee on Education. She began her career as a high school English and journalism teacher in Jefferson City Public Schools.
