BMIT - DID YOU KNOW?

  1. Did you know that in order to teach a course you have never taught before, you do NOT need to complete any additional paperwork?  If you have a marketing education certificate, you can teach any approved marketing course. If you have a business education certificate, you can teach any approved business course, except SBE and Computer Science. SBE and Computer Science I and II have additional requirements. APPROVED COURSES: https://dese.mo.gov/sites/default/files/bmit-career-cluster.pdf

  2. A secondary concentrator is a student who has completed at least two courses in a single career and technical education program of study. A course is defined locally as a series of lessons that equal one credit. For business and marketing programs, it is two full credits in a career cluster.

  3. APPROVED PROGRAM REQUIREMENT: Students must have an opportunity to earn three credits in a sequence. This sequence is typically three credits in a career cluster.

  5. Your administrator can submit an application to add an IRC and/or a stackable credential to the approved list. More information

  6. An approved business program MUST offer FBLA-PBL(link is external). An approved marketing program MUST offer DECA(link is external). 

 

The following listserv is intended to facilitate the communication and exchange of ideas among teachers to improve and expand upon business, marketing, and information technology education and related services for students in Missouri.

BMIT LISTSERV

This listserv was created for all business, marketing, and CCE teachers in the state of Missouri. We all need to work together to best serve our students, so share lesson plans, online resources, curriculum enrichments, anything that will help create a meaningful, educational experience for our students.

When sending an email on this listserv, PLEASE make sure to type the following in the subject line:

(PROGRAM NAME) (COURSE NAME)

Example 1: Business, Accounting I,
Example 2: Marketing, Advertising, 
Example 3: All Programs (use this if what you are sharing/asking applies to all program areas)

By using this information in the subject line, it will help teachers more easily filter out the messages that may not apply to them.

All subscribers will be able to post to this listserv without regard of MBEA or MCEA membership. BMIT staff will post to this listserv as well.

WORK-EXPERIENCE EVALUATION

The work-experience program evaluation (link is external) is now available. One form PER teacher PER program is requested for submission.

WORK EXPERIENCE PROGRAMS:

  • Cooperative Career Education Experience
  • Supervised Business Experience
  • Supervised Marketing Experience 

COMMON CRITERIA AND QUALITY INDICATORS

ALL APPROVED PROGRAMS MUST SUBMIT EVERY ODD FISCAL YEAR.

Common Criteria and Quality Indicators Information

An Administrative Memo regarding the Common Criteria and Quality Indicators (CCQI) was recently sent to School Administrators, Career and Technical Education (CTE) Directors/Administrators, High School Principals, School Counselors, and Community College/University CTE Deans/Directors.

Please review the memo and then refer to the BMIT Resource Book, pages 15-17, for additional information. 

NEW

STACKABLE CREDENTIAL - Beginning in school year 2020-2021, students earning two stackable credentials in a program area will have the same effect on a district's APR as earning an IRC. Our current working definition of a stackable credential is a series of aligned, recognized, preferred, and/or required credentials (stackable) within an industry or sector that support an individual’s ability to obtain related, career employment.

REMINDERS

  • CCE, SBE, & SME END-OF-YEAR EVALUATION - An end-of-year evaluation will be REQUIRED for all Supervised Business, Supervised Marketing, and Cooperative Career Education programs. 
    • The online evaluation window will open March 1 of the current year.
  • CCQI - Submitting the CCQI program improvement tool is REQUIRED for all approved programs – DUE June 1 of the current year.
