How to Report a Health or Safety Concern/Complaint:
Complaints about child care programs are reviewed to determine whether an investigation is necessary. Please note that the Office of Childhood can only investigate complaints involving licensed child care programs or programs contracted to receive subsidy. The Office of Childhood is not able to investigate concerns about a school or school district unless the program meets those criteria.

After a complaint has been reviewed and determined to require investigation, it is assigned to a local Compliance Inspector or the child care subsidy team. If a complaint is substantiated and found to include rule or contract violations, the seriousness of those violations may result in a referral for possible legal action.
Summary information for all substantiated complaints is available to the public through the Show Me Child Care Provider Search.
